Toxicity of Melamine: Melamine is not metabolised rapidly and is excreted in urine.  It can cause inflammation of the bladder and kidney or bladder stones.

 

Symptoms: In children exposed to contaminated dairy products, watch out for the following: unexplained crying, especially with urinating, vomiting, blood in urine and flank pain.
